Q: How much does structural steel fabrication cost?
A: The cost of structural steel fabrication can vary widely based on several factors, including current steel mill pricing, project complexity, project size, location, and even the type of building involved. At Champion Steel Works, we continuously track all of these variables to ensure accurate and up-to-date budgeting. SELECTING A FABRICATOR
Q: What certifications should I look for?
A: The most important certification to look for in a structural steel fabricator is AISC Certification from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). Recognized as the industry's gold standard, AISC certification is the most trusted national indicator of quality in structural steel fabrication. It verifies that a fabricator has qualified personnel, a proven organizational framework, extensive experience, documented procedures, proper equipment, and the strong commitment to quality required to deliver reliable structural steel. The program emphasizes error prevention through rigorous audits and strict adherence to established standards.
At Champion Steel Works, we proudly hold AISC, AWS (American Welding Society), CFA (Central Fabricators Association), and OSA (Ohio Steel Association) Memberships, as well as an AISC Building Fabricator Certification, underscoring our dedication to excellence, transparency, and industry-leading quality.
Q: How do I determine if a structural steel fabrication company is reliable?
A: To assess whether a structural steel fabricator is truly reliable, focus on four essential factors: Safety, Certifications, Experience, and Quality Control. Reputable companies are transparent and willing to share this information openly, giving you confidence in their processes and performance.
At Champion Steel Works, we maintain a sub-1.0 EMR safety rating, hold the AISC Building Fabricator Certification, and proudly carry the title of the oldest Steel Fabricator in Ohio. Our operations are supported by a strict and well-documented Quality Control System, and we are always happy to provide detailed documentation upon request.

PROJECT LOGISTICS
Q: How long does the steel fabrication process take?
A: Steel fabrication lead times can vary depending on several key factors, including project complexity, material lead times, overall size, the number of sequences, and current shop capacity. Every project must move through multiple pre-fabrication stages -- such as Detailing, RFIs, Approval Review, and a final Scrub phase. The time required for each stage depends on the specific project requirements. Once a project is fully approved and released to the shop, Champion Steel Works can typically start delivering steel to the job site within 2 to 3 weeks. Upon request, we are happy to include a detailed schedule with your quote.
Q: Do you provide steel installation or erection services?
A: Champion Steel Works specializes in steel fabrication and can manage your complete steel package based on project needs. We partner with General Contractors and Erectors who require fabrication-only services, as well as teams who need a full-turnkey solution. We also collaborate with Erectors and Miscellaneous Metals contractors to offer General Contractors a comprehensive, all-inclusive steel package price.
